The government is looking into a system in Ford cars called BlueCruise that helps drivers. They’re worried because there have been two crashes where people died while using this system. The crashes happened when the cars didn’t stop for things in the road. Both crashes happened at night when it’s harder to see. One crash was in Texas in February, and the other was in Pennsylvania recently.

Now, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is checking if there’s a problem with BlueCruise. They want to see if they need to fix it or even recall the cars with this system. Another group called the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is also looking into this.

The NHTSA says there were three deaths in two crashes with Ford Mustang Mach-E SUVs. These cars had BlueCruise turned on, but it didn’t work right.

BlueCruise is a system that helps drivers by letting them take their hands off the steering wheel for a while, as long as they’re still watching the road. But in these crashes, it didn’t stop the cars when it should have. And since it was dark outside, it might have been harder for the system to see.

The new investigation will focus on the Ford Mustang Mach-E SUVs with BlueCruise. They want to see if the system can tell what’s happening on the road and if it can make the car stop when it needs to. They’re also checking how well the system watches the driver to make sure they’re paying attention. BlueCruise is supposed to be a Level 2 system, which means it helps the driver but the driver still needs to watch the road. There’s a camera and sensors in the system that watch the driver to make sure they’re still paying attention. But the NHTSA thinks this might not be working well, at least in the Ford Mustang Mach-E SUVs.
